55 Colmore Row Attracts Second Major Occupier

Savills is the second high profile name in the city to sign up to IM Properties’ 55 Colmore Row, agreeing a 15-year lease on 16,956 sq ft, taking the entire top floor.

The global property consultancy join international law firm, Pinsent Masons, who moved in earlier this year, taking 40,000 sq ft over two floors.

IM Properties vision to create London style offices in Birmingham is clearly paying off, with the property company attracting two of the largest occupiers known to be in the market for new Birmingham headquarters.

Savills is relocating 156 staff to 55 Colmore Row consolidating two existing offices in the city.

Simon Farrant, Savills director said:

“We look forward to our move to 55 Colmore Row, following an extensive search for the right property in which to combine our two current offices.  The quality, scale and prime location offered by the building are an ideal fit with our ambitions to continue expanding and developing the Savills brand.  This is an exciting time for Birmingham, which has established a truly global profile, and we are extremely well-positioned to advise on the growing opportunities in the city and wider region.”

55 Colmore Row, whilst retaining the architectural grandeur of its Grade II listed facade and Victorian banking hall, has been completely remodeled to deliver 160,000 sq ft of high quality, contemporary Grade A commercial space in the heart of Birmingham’s Central Business District.

John Hammond, investment director at IM Properties said:

“Savills is another great name to welcome to the scheme and a fantastic show of confidence in the offices from one of the leading property consultancies.

“It once again demonstrates that if you push the boundaries and offer a really exceptional product in a first class location, you will attract the occupiers looking to make statement moves and underline their leading positions within the city and the region.”

Upmarket Argentinian steak restaurant, Gaucho, also moved into commercial space at 55 earlier this year and talks are underway with further leisure operators to complete the leisure offering.

IM Properties is one of the UK’s largest privately owned property companies and a major investor in Birmingham and the region.
